Nursing as a rewarding professional career……
A nursing career can offer you the unprecedented opportunity to make a significant
impact in your community while enjoying one of the most financially rewarding job
markets in decades. Faced with rapidly expanding numbers of baby boomers that require advanced medical care, nearly every hospital, health care system, and assisted living facility require competent nurses and aides.
Nurses are a critical part of healthcare and make up the largest section of the health profession. The demand for qualified and skilled nurses continues to grow with the expansion of healthcare facilities in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, orphanages, old age homes and maternity homes. With the expansion of educational and training institutions in nursing, the demand for Nursing teachers is also increasing.
The Nursing degree / diploma will provide you with basic technical nursing skills. You will be prepared for entry-level positions in giving bedside care, most often in hospital settings and extended or acute care facilities. You will be prepared to work directly with patients suffering from common health problems and help others achieve an optimal level of wellness
The entry of the corporate sector in medical and health services has enhanced medical opportunities for nurses in India. The number of qualified professionals of Nursing available are very less as against the number of job openings in the hospitals and nursing homes.
According to the World Health Statistics Report (WHO, 2013), there are approximately 29 million nurses and midwives in the world, with 3.9 million of those individuals in the United States. Estimates of upwards of one million additional nurses will be needed by 2020 (WHO, 2013). WHO offers opportunities for graduate students and outstanding nurse or midwife leaders to be involved in global health.
Employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. The Registered Nurses (RNs) workforce is expected to grow from 2.9 million in 2016 to 3.4 million in 2026, an increase of 438,100 or 15% in the U.S.
According to The American Nurses Association (ANA) (2018), there will be more registered nurse jobs available through 2022 than any other profession in the United States. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (2018) projects 1.1 million additional nurses are needed to avoid a further shortage. Employment opportunities for nurses are projected to grow at a faster rate (15%) than all other occupations from 2016 through 2026 (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2018).
And above all you will also be prepared to continue your education and work toward a bachelors / masters degree in nursing. A student qualifying GNM or B.Sc. Nursing can pursue further studies in this field and choose the profession of teaching in the colleges of Nursing, where again there is a dearth of qualified nursing lecturers and professors. With the expansion of educational and training institutions in nursing, the demand for Nursing teachers is also increasing. And a big gap between the demand and availability of the qualified professors presents an opportunity to get very high salaries and perks in this field.
